My goal for this new piece in my hat series was to create a more playful feeling. Most of the other paintings in this series have felt more contemplative and I wanted to bring out a joyful, fun vibe instead. The beach is a call to reconnect with the simple joys in life and to find fun in the smallest moments. While I was painting “Sun Kist”, I tried to capture the blissful feeling you get when the wind is on your face and the sun beams on your skin. The beach is not only a place to recharge, but also a space where you can reawaken that childlike sense of wonder.
