I loved painting this commission piece. I created the composition to fit a specific space and  based the colors on the surrounding area.  I was also influenced by the modern theme of the house and the customer’s nautical interests.  When I was finished, I did a little research and learned that the octopus has 3 hearts so I named the piece, “Triple Hearts.” Since this was a gift from a husband to a wife,
