Boats represent a journey or an adventure, and sometimes a safe haven. When I see an empty boat along the shore, I imagine a story behind it and wonder where that boat has traveled. Who was on that boat and what were their experiences? I usually create a weathered look to boats when I paint them to add interest and a sense of history.
